How to Freeze Your Catch the Right Way

Posted on December 13 2017

When anglers freeze their catch they often don't properly protect it from the air resulting in dehydration. Below are some tips to keep your catch fresh in the freezer.

To keep your catch fresh follow these steps:

1) Scale, gut, and portion the fish. This way you have clean meat portioned out and you won't thaw too much out at a time.

2) Freeze the portioned fish in water. By doing this air will not subject the meat to dehydration.

3) Put the frozen block into a freezer safe bag and store in the freezer. Having the block of ice in a bag helps to protect the fish from further dehydration, keeping it fresh.

Now that you know how to properly store your catch, it's time to fill up that freezer with delicious fish.
